Top Third

Posted on May 29, 2015

Lots of work around the house and yard today.  I thought we were supposed to ride, but it got pushed back a day… instead I worked on my garden and I have all but three plants in the ground, two tomatillos and garlic chives… 97% of my flowers, veggies, and herbs are finished… Now, a…

Uncle Jack

Posted on May 28, 2015

I keep remembering my uncle from New York State, who, upon his one visit to Wyoming, repeatedly commented on our clouds… and as a teenager, I thought that he was so funny… They’re JUST CLOUDS.  With all this rain… all I seem to do, is take photos of clouds. Here’s to Uncle Jack.

Life is Good

Posted on May 25, 2015

Yes, it rained. There’s rockslides in Wind River Canyon by Thermopolis, off and on Powder River Pass has been closed.  You can’t get there from here unless it’s NORTH!  While the creek is running high, not much damage has been done…  (yes, that’s snow on the mountains further south) The guys are having to AI…

Soggy

Posted on May 24, 2015

Rain!  Holy cow, it’s like we live in Seattle or something!!  There’s local flooding around parts of the state… Thermopolis, Kaycee, and the creek is as full as it can get here.  More rain and parts will start getting flooded. We had plans to give the heifers we are AI’ing their Lutalyse shot, but held…

It Rained

Posted on May 23, 2015

Definitely not a big day today… babysitting and a wedding comprised my “easy” day… The guy who got married is a “neighbor” up the road a few miles, and a friend of my boys. Now the weather the past week hasn’t been perfect for weddings, rain and clouds and more rain and more clouds, and,…

Evening Light

Posted on May 22, 2015

Well, for once it’s only past 9 and I’m posting!  That’s because I’m entirely exhausted… I managed to mow most of my tall, tall yard and work in my garden getting most of it planted!  According to my little wrist counter, I put in just over 19,000 steps today. That’s why my hands are sore…

Branding Pics

Posted on May 19, 2015

Just hanging around, watching everything! Lacee has her own vantage point. Jaxon helps dad hold the calf, while Quinlan marks the calf’s back with chalk. Vernon dallies his calf. Kay, one of my “pups”, takes a ride on the pallet.  Yes, she stays on! I’m not supposed to be here, but you can’t see me.

Again

Posted on May 18, 2015

We branded Brandon’s little leased herd today… pictures to follow… then I spent the afternoon on my lawnmower trying to catch up with the out of control grass.  Before I knew it, here came Vernon, and I headed to the house to cook something for supper. Washing my hands at the sink, I noticed two…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
