Good Thing

Posted on October 17, 2011January 29, 2015

Vernon and Daniel pulled the irrigation dams partially out of the creek yesterday.  It wasn’t exactly swimming weather, but it needed to be done, so they crawled out on the big dam log and started pulling sticks, letting the water flow unimpeded downstream. Zoom

Posted on October 16, 2011April 1, 2015

The past two days were crazy. I worked the Hunter Fest for the library, selling raffle tickets, promoting the Harvest Dinner, and even selling a few books! I then went and helped slice the meat for the dinner. Next, I flew over the mountain to Kaycee to stay at Victoria’s for a bit… and Saturday…

Posted on October 15, 2011April 1, 2015

Oh, Gee… almost midnight… too late to think or type… after a baby shower and driving and the Harvest Dinner and visiting with friends… I’m gonna skip out! Enjoy this pic I entitled “Toes” Unfortunately, that’s not white sand my toes are in… but snow. And don’t you just love Elsa’s hairy little hobbit toes?…

Mahoney Spring

Posted on October 14, 2011January 29, 2015

On yesterday’s trip to the mountain… We also pull the plug on all of our water tanks, letting them drain…   We tear apart the pipe from the spring box, preventing the ice from splitting the pipes… This is Mahoney Spring. The BESTEST BESTEST water in the WEST… guaranteed to freeze your brain, teeth, throat,…

Really, Truly

Posted on October 13, 2011April 1, 2015

Wow. I can feel my legs. I mean, I can FEEL my legs… every muscle. We went to the mountain to let the fence down.  Before I moved here, I’d never heard of doing this.  As the winter snows begin to drift, the barbed wire fences are covered in heavy snow.  The weight of snow…

Wordless Wednesday – “Impossible Gold”

Posted on October 12, 2011January 29, 2015

A smidge of a rainbow hovers above our cattle as they trail along the near skyline in shadow.  The far skyline in sunshine is half a mile away on the other side of a 500′ canyon… Reaching this pot of gold would be impossible without a jet pack! Happy Wordless Wednesday! **** October 12, 2010…

Feel Inclined

Posted on October 11, 2011April 1, 2015

It’s that time again. Time for our major fundraiser for the Library and Ambulance. It’s time for the Harvest Dinner! Saturday night is our raffle, bucket raffle, and live auction for the library and donated items are coming in! I donated this photograph… 16″x20″ printed on “canvas”… and mounted on foam board to the library…

Scarecrow Contest

Posted on October 10, 2011April 1, 2015

Saturday, the Ten Sleep Library held a scarecrow contest!  My boss/friend KJ has been wanting to do this for years… and we finally got our act together… and the Friends of the TSL donated the prizes. We had two categories… traditional and non-traditional… and paid out 3 places in each.  A Wii and a Kindle…

Questions and Answers – October 2011 Edition

Posted on October 9, 2011November 14, 2013

First of all, sorry that Panama’s whinny startled so many of you!  He’s such a Lonesome Charlie and sometimes it irritates me, but to find out he scared people, dogs, and kittens… well, it was slightly humorous on my end!  I will try to remember a warning on the next video he “announces”…  Let’s get…

Posted on October 8, 2011April 1, 2015

Ta-Da! Yay for me! I actually DID put together a Minute Movie called Bringing the Cows Down. To be honest… it’s a Two Minute Movie. But everything was soooooo quiet and peaceful…  I just needed to share! If you look at nothing else… look at the sky. Oh, my! Without further adieu… Minute Movie: Bringing…

No Popcorn

Posted on October 7, 2011April 1, 2015

Lest you doubted my story of rain yesterday… which continued throughout the night and morning and has recently restarted… We’re almost to 2″ of rain… which, by Wyoming terms, is 1/7 of our yearly moisture! When the clouds lifted this afternoon… Yup. No surprise there. Boy, I’m glad we’re not riding today!  My opinion on…

Good Timing

Posted on October 6, 2011November 28, 2014

While I was working at the library yesterday, the guys gathered our mountain pasture and kicked them into a smaller “holding” pasture.  That meant leaving first thing for the mountain to trail them down. Dally was Dog of the Day… Lucas is prohibited from that drive, and Elsa would have been Extremely Sore… so Dally…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
