Town Trip

Posted on March 13, 2016March 12, 2016

A day spent in town.  It’s been quite a while since I’ve been, I’ve just had people grab me some bread and milk on occasion, and I’ve left many things off many lists… and today I (literally) paid for it. There was no choice, I needed chick starter since baby chicks will arrive Monday morning!!!!…

Slipper and Babies

Posted on March 12, 2016March 11, 2016

I told myself to work on that video today… but instead I cleaned my house and actually cooked a decent meal and cleaned out the chicken coop and felted on a slipper.  Somehow, the video got lost in the process. Here is my right slipper… It needed just a bit more shrink at this point…..

Starting to Felt

Posted on March 11, 2016March 10, 2016

I began the major felting of my wool slippers.  They still are not complete, seeing as how I actually had to go to work the past two days!   One is 80% complete, with some final shrinking left, and one I have yet to begin. I’ve just reviewed my videos I’ve been taking throughout this process. …

Slop Your Dripper

Posted on March 9, 2016March 8, 2016

The day was chilly… with tattered remnants of snow pasted on the ground.  While I should have worked again on a bee hive or cleaned the chicken coop, I remained inside, trying to accomplish a goal I had set for winter. I have wanted to make a pair of wool slippers… well, almost booties since…

Sparrow Video

Posted on March 8, 2016March 7, 2016

Rain and snow. It was great to see, as the country was dusty already. Although Ten Sleep didn’t receive much, I had .22″ in my rain gauge!  The grass will grow with that. Today I finally uploaded a video I took on February 14. That was only 3 weeks ago, but the landscape sure has…

Family Birthday

Posted on March 6, 2016March 5, 2016

We attended a birthday party for Johnny’s oldest brother today… George is now 102 years young.  It’s always a good time visiting with relatives and asking some clarification on family stories. Plus there’s always the family photos… The original George Greet who immigrated to the U.S. in the 1880’s.  He began the ranch on Spring…

Squirt Guns in March

Posted on March 5, 2016March 4, 2016

I think I may have done something today I have never done before on this date!  Since all seven of the cousins were here, we cooked hotdogs over the campfire and had new squirt gun fights!  (Not Matthew.  He’s still only 10 months old.  He can’t pull the trigger on a squirt gun yet!) I…

Wyoming Tease

Posted on March 4, 2016March 3, 2016

Seriously.  Wyoming is just a tease. I can’t go ANYWHERE without thinking “STOP.  That’s a photo!  Lookie.  OOOOOOOH.  That’s pretty…” But I’m going to work and I’ll be late… or there’s actually another vehicle behind me and I can’t stop… or there are all those power lines… or I’m chasing the light. It’s all about…

Old Times

Posted on March 2, 2016March 1, 2016

Calves keep coming along steadily.  There hasn’t been a BIG BUSY DAY.  In fact, you know how I’ve told you in the past, how we get them in the corral, so we can keep a good eye on them and get them in to have their calves in a nice warm area?  We still haven’t…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
