Superhero

Posted on January 12, 2015

So, I wander from house to studio… Draw a little… Repair a chair… decide I need some great sandpaper to get those corners and interior edges… Nail some boards, then I go on a search for more… Back and forth, trudging through the snow. Brandon has his calves wandering around, and I take the time…

Questions and Answers – January 2015 Edition

Posted on January 11, 2015

Let’s kick off the New Year with this Q & A Session! Liza – How’s the puppy settling in? What do the bees do over the winter? Do bees hibernate? How about the chickens? I’m pretty sure they don’t hibernate, but can they find food through the snow? Or do you supplement them? Eden is…

Ten Things You Don’t Know About: Haystacks

Posted on January 10, 2015

Bred Heifer Sale

Posted on January 9, 2015

We traveled to Riverton today to see our heifers sell.  These are the unfortunate ones that didn’t make the cut to be replacement heifers for whatever reason… they are expecting their calves too late, and a few were too small. There were plenty of nice looking ones… I would have bought them! Riverton always treats…

Frosty

Posted on January 6, 2015

I did help Vernon again… leaving the boys to ride horses in the badlands and gather the last of the reluctant cows… I do believe this is the first time NEITHER one of us has gone… Which, really… is just kinda WEIRD.  I mean, there’s times where I don’t ride anymore, but Vernon’s usually there…

Snowshoe Outing

Posted on January 5, 2015

With not much sunshine left in the day, the dogs and I headed out.  Putting on my snowshoes was almost enough work for me!  OK.  I exaggerate.  Down the incline, through the gate, and we began our normal walkabout.  It’s not much, usually… but with snowshoes, it’s a tad bit more work.  Before long, I’m…

Help Feed

Posted on January 4, 2015

Vernon asked me to help feed this morning.  We had awoke to -11˚… and if I helped, the boys could do their feeding, and then turn the cows in that were standing at the gate.  Vernon could get an earlier chance at snowmobiling out to turn off a generator and pump.  Of course, I’d help. …

Gifts

Posted on January 3, 2015

I woke up to a blizzard… boy, the wind was blowing and the snow was coming down!  When it was done, we’d received 5 more inches on what we already have… time to break out the snowshoes!  I faced the wind and squinted as I walked to the chicken coop… brrr.  A few fumbling missteps…
