Wordless Wednesday – “Ready to Disappear into the Willows”

Posted on November 3, 2010March 28, 2015

A fleeting glimpse of a whitetail doe and twin fawns who are ready to disappear into the willows again… Happy Birthday to Victoria… I love you! Leave questions in the comment section… answered Sunday. ********************************************************************************** November 3, 2009   What Tomorrow Brings

We’re Set

Posted on November 2, 2010January 13, 2015

I spent the morning trying to create some crafts. I’ve joined up with the Friends of the Ten Sleep Library for a fun little project. I did it years ago when I worked at the library… it’s called The Festival of Trees. Organizations decorate a Christmas tree or wreath… Businesses bid on them and display…

Heaven Forbid!

Posted on November 1, 2010January 13, 2015

Honestly. If I buy 48# of cucumbers again… please shoot me. After making applesauce with friends until 11 pm one night, I spent the next day making sweet pickle relish.  Eleven pints.  Can I really use eleven pints in a year?  That’s lots of hot dogs and potato salad and tuna salad… I then ran…

Lost Three

Posted on October 31, 2010January 13, 2015

When I said I made gallons of applesauce last night I was *not* exaggerating! The Pepsi’s for scale. They’re big pots. They’re full. Well, pretty much. 23 quarts and 7 pints for Johnny! Today I moved on to sweet pickle relish. I’ve run out of onions and green peppers, so I’ll probably have to switch…

Ready to Quit

Posted on October 30, 2010December 1, 2014

I had to go to town today… again. Sheesh. Seems like I just went! I made a day of it, picking up my Food Co-op Basket. Grabbing a bagel and chai at our little local bakery. Heading to the post office to mail my watercolors and some gifts. Meeting friends and their dogs… I didn’t…

Water is Flowing

Posted on October 29, 2010January 13, 2015

It’s that time of year… Snow has fallen on the mountaintops. Drifts lay across the roads. Any cattle left up high are finding their own ways down the mountain… or cowboys are bundling up and riding in the snow. Been there. Done that. Our cattle are halfway down the mountain in our Mesa pasture… but…

Hang in There

Posted on October 28, 2010January 13, 2015

Whoops. A little late. A little tired. A little lazy. Whaaaa? You don’t have these nights? There’s lots of cool things coming up… so be patient. More Etsy. More calendar. More cows. More Mills Place. More creative… horsey style. Just hang in there with me! ******************************************************************************* October 28, 2009  Wordless Wednesday – “Lettin’ the Kids…

A Click

Posted on October 26, 2010March 28, 2015

I hid inside today… a day of snow flurries and wind. If Daniel wasn’t here, I’m sure I would have been out in this mess! I believe I could easily be spoiled! I wasn’t just a slug though, I actually did work a tad bit on my Etsy shop. YAY! I’ve been meaning to do…

Sunset Angles

Posted on October 25, 2010March 28, 2015

The first rain we’ve had in a Long Time started about 2 am… and the wind blew…  and I laid in bed thinking I’d wake to a snowy blanket over my leaves. Nope. It was cool and damp and still windy, but no snow down here. Now on the mountaintops, yes! Rumor has it there…

It’ll Work

Posted on October 24, 2010January 13, 2015

It’ll Work We helped our neighbors ship their old and open cows and some weaned calves today.  They didn’t have too many, so it was a relaxing event for us.  Although Lucas is rarely relaxed around cattle if he thinks he can help! He and I stayed out of the way for the last bit…

Life Is Good

Posted on October 23, 2010January 13, 2015

While Daniel and T. and Matt tried for venison this morning (and were unsuccessful), Brandon, Victoria, I and seven dogs went on a weed collection walk. Brandon’s Weed class at UW requires a collection of samples. Luckily, or not, Greet Ranch has its share. Meanwhile the dogs looped and zoomed… ducked under shrubs… leapt into…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
