Signs That you May Be in Wyoming

Posted on October 13, 2009March 25, 2015

Along with my zillion photos of the Tetons, Jackson, and Idaho that I shared with you last week… I took some photos of signs that you may not see in your daily commute. This one… along with a “snowmobiler”… “cattle on road”… and “open range”… are all fairly typical and reflect our lifestyle in Wyoming….

ReRide

Posted on October 12, 2009January 5, 2015

After the long day of riding last week… the weather turned on us… even colder and nastier than before. So… we flew to town to get building supplies for our various projects one day… Vernon took his “new” snowmobile up the mountain to check for leftover cows the next… He didn’t find anything… Then we…

Mother Nature… Saboteur… Artist

Posted on October 11, 2009January 5, 2015

Mother Nature’s snowstorm has taken over Wyoming and she needs to let go! She has continued to throw cold air and/or snow at us since the first of October… Her mood is slowly supposed to improve this week… arriving back at the 50-60 degree range this coming weekend. It has been tough for everyone’s outdoor…

Library and Ambulance Benefit

Posted on October 10, 2009March 25, 2015

Just in case there is an interest out there in Blogland… Annually, Ten Sleep has held a fundraiser for the Ten Sleep Library and Ten Sleep Ambulance while all the deer hunters are in town. Ten Sleep easily doubles in population this time of year… This year it will be held October 17th. Some of…

Fairweather Cowboy… Or Not… Fine Details

Posted on October 9, 2009March 25, 2015

Sometimes I am reminded there are various undisclosed subsections that evidently lay in my marriage contract. My husband knew about them. I did not. Since *he* knew… and is laughing while I suffer the consequences… I usually throw something at him. A horse turd. A rock. A cow wart. Whatever’s handy. No one told me…

Fairweather Cowboy… Or Not

Posted on October 8, 2009November 24, 2014

I MUCH prefer to be a fairweather cowboy. Meaning, I hate to ride bundled up in so many layers I’d give the Michelin Man an identity complex. But… I don’t get to make those decisions… So I found myself on horseback today. Only 3 layers. Only for 8 hours. Details tomorrow… But I’m sore… And…

Randomness and Cruisin’

Posted on October 6, 2009January 5, 2015

Today seems to be one of those days… Randomness is everywhere… Including my photos for the day… Forgive the snapshot quality… Vernon was on *cruise*… Now really… this guy had to drive from Idaho clear to Dubois for a humongous load of firewood? Plus manage the devastating speed of 40 mph over Togwotee Pass! I…

The Other Hundred Photos…

Posted on October 5, 2009November 23, 2014

I know… my query from yesterday wasn’t very difficult. If you’ve ever been to Wyoming to visit Yellowstone National Park… You probably left or entered by the south entrance. That’s Grand Teton National Park. And if a zillion photos have been taken of Old Faithful… a zillion and one photos have been taken of the…

Road Trip!

Posted on October 4, 2009March 25, 2015

Corral is mended… Calves are all located and returned to proper corral… It is time to see some Wyoming country! We left the snow here… to find snow on the mountaintops our entire trip! For instance… here’s the Owl Creek Mountains near Thermopolis… Here’s Wind River Canyon… The name of the river? The Big Horn!…

Best Laid Plans…

Posted on October 3, 2009January 5, 2015

I’m glad only family saw me today… I rarely get really really mad… but today was one of those days. I had been looking forward to this new little celebration Ten Sleep was going to put on today… The Trailing of the Sheep Festival. Every stockman around… whether cattleman or sheepman… is trailing their stock…
