Eggciting

Posted on February 25, 2013April 4, 2015

It’s time again… I’m giving two, yes, TWO classes on pysanky this year at the library!  There’s still an opening or two or three for the class next Monday, so sign up now! I’m getting a late start in preparation, so tomorrow’s going to be a crash course… should I say crash when it comes…

Very Nice Walk

Posted on February 24, 2013April 4, 2015

Well, the twins and Victoria left about noon… She tried to give the weather a chance to straighten up as we’ve received a bit more snow.  Sure enough, about a half hour after she left, the sun came out and the day turned into Very Nice. We took the boys sledding while they were here……

SoapStones

Posted on February 22, 2013April 4, 2015

My newest little venture into capitalism includes these beauties. I’ve named them SoapStones. I discovered the process while investigating my wool felting.  Remember those Christmas stockings?  Well, this includes the wool roving, but instead of using a needle, you simply wet felt the wool around bars of soap. At some point, I may add some…

Spring and Healing

Posted on February 19, 2013April 4, 2015

Our first calf out of our heifers arrived today… I haven’t seen it yet, but I imagine once the flood of babies starts pouring over the dam, I’ll be down there, bedding pens and keeping an eye on the heifers.  And taking pictures. Speaking of water… the ice has begun to go out of the…

Lift My Heart

Posted on February 18, 2013April 4, 2015

Thank you all SO MUCH for your words of compassion… Reading them all makes me cry and smile at the same time…  I am amazed at your thoughtfulness and caring.  Elsa will always be padding softly in the corner of my heart…  I dreamed of her last night… **** While I’ve been dealing with death,…

Butcher’s Foothills Elsa

Posted on February 17, 2013October 29, 2014

English Shepherds were unknown to me just a few years ago.  After purchasing Lucas from Mary Peaslee’s Shepherd’s Way, I soon discovered the dog I’d always desired.  Devoted, loving, able to work and able to relax… this dog would fit into ranchlife just perfectly. Fate intervened and Lucas was injured.  I honestly didn’t know if…

Oh, Else

Posted on February 16, 2013March 23, 2013

Thank you all. As the emotions swirl, and I struggle between tears and bouts of ragged coughing, her presence lingers strongly. My Golden Girl. My Sweetheart. Elsa Dear. I roam this blog, in hunt for entries mentioning her name. Her photos appear just as softly as she moved along my side. But best of all,…

Something Better and a Love Story

Posted on February 14, 2013March 23, 2013

Well, the highlight of my day was getting a prescription for my cough.  It was a miserable night last night… I’m shooting for something better tonight. I can’t even soothe you with a photo, I don’t have access to my camera cable! I guess we’ll all be miserable together… However, maybe this will appeal for…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
