Oh, Toto

Posted on October 22, 2016October 21, 2016

I’m not in Wyoming any more… Ok, that doesn’t quite have the same ring to it, but it’s true. I’m in Fort Collins, COLORADO!  Megan and Tess decided to give me my Christmas/birthday presents early by bringing me down to all these people and all this traffic to pick out my custom cowboy hat! I…

#TBT: Six Horse Hitch

Posted on October 21, 2016October 20, 2016

A six horse hitch is leaving the home place.  The barn is still the same, but there’s a few more buildings and a corral in this place now.

Shop Difference

Posted on October 19, 2016

It all began with opening a door… as so many journeys do! Remember when the humongous door fell off the shop when Daniel opened it??? and I was SO grateful that it didn’t hurt or kill him???  Well, we knew it was time for overhead doors.  Easier to open and close, a tighter seal, and…

Concrete Prayer

Posted on October 18, 2016October 17, 2016

For me, it was another day of spray painting the shop. First thing, though, was the guys pouring a new concrete pad for the new garage door to land on.  One end has always been dirt and gravel, and the new door needed a level landing spot, so they, with help from some of our…

Happy Campers

Posted on October 17, 2016

I spent hours painting on the old shop remodel… my shoulder is tired, but I’m far from finished and then there’s that pesky second coat. The shop does look wonderful though, and I’ll soon show you some blow by blow photos… It’s now foam insulated and finished out with OSB and rigid insulation. Highlight of…

Harvest Dinner

Posted on October 16, 2016October 15, 2016

Once again, our little Harvest Dinner was a great fundraiser for the Ten Sleep Ambulance and Friends of the Ten Sleep Library. With quilts, artwork, handcrafted items, unique baskets full of themed merchandise, jewelry, fall decorations, signs, books, food, scarves; it all added up to a successful benefit. I’d like to thank those that donated,…

Rescued

Posted on October 15, 2016

It’s that time of year again. Hunting season. The roads are crazy busy. There are hunting camps everywhere. People from mainly Wisconsin and Minnesota, but California and Arizona and Colorado and other places have descended into Wyoming. Collision Orange is the color of the season. Most are here for deer.  Others elk.  A few for…

Posted on October 14, 2016October 13, 2016

These girls are having a grand time trying on cowboy hats and holding up pairs of chaps.  This was originally entitled “Girls with Chaps”.

Trailing Down

Posted on October 11, 2016October 10, 2016

Saddle at 7.  Drive up the mountain.  Unload.  Start taking pics and video to share with you! The cows went pretty good until the Slope Pasture and. then. they. would. not. move. Yell and whistle. Chase through the rocks and down the hill. Panama is tired.  Eden is tired. Break for lunch at the bottom…

Carol, Wyoming rancher

Since 2008, I’ve kept this photographic journal of life on our working Wyoming ranch.  I share ranch work, my family, crafts and DIY, my English Shepherds, Bravo and Indy, and a love for this land.  Enjoy this red dirt country!
